On 1st January 2017, Kalpataru day was celebrated at our Thakur Ghar. Swami Indranathananda gave an introductory speech and Swami Ekarupananda gave a discourse on the importance of the Day. Devotional songs were presented by Vivek Vahini. All were served with Prasad.
On 12th January 2017, National Youth day was celebrated with due solemnity both in Higher Secondary and Secondary sections. Floral tributes were paid to Swamiji in both the sections by the Swamijis, Teachers and Students. Followed by bhajans & speeches by the Students, Teachers and Swamijis. The boys recited the life giving messages of Swami Vivekananda from the complete works of Swami Vivekananda.
The 155th birthday Tithi puja of Swami Vivekananda was celebrated at our Thakur Ghar with tradition fervour & gaiety. The events have begun with the mangalarati at the Thakur Ghar followed by Special Puja & Havan. At the Thakur Ghar the boys presented devotional songs and discussed on the life and work of Swami Vivekananda. Kichuri Prasad was served to all present at the Prasad Khaksa. The Higher Secondary boys brought out a wall magazine 'Vivek Chetana' which was released by Mr. C. Bangyang, Asst. Lecturer, W R Govt. College, Deomali. In the evening Manipuri dance recital was performed by Guru Y. Amusana Singh and troupe from Manipur. Sri Tridip Kumar Mohul, our Music teacher presented a few melodious bhajans.
The 68th Republic Day was celebrated with eclat on 26th January 2017. Sri R.K. Deori, IFS, Chief Conservator of Forests, Deomali hoisted the National flag followed by the General Salute and Parade. Secondary Hostel students staged a mesmerising band display. Primary Hostel students displayed Lizium and Dumbbell drill. Yogasana & Pyramid formation was performed by Middle Hostel students. Children of Maa Sarada Vidyamandir presented a Patriotic song with action. The programme concluded with a Patriotic song by H. S. Hostel Students.
The Annual Prize giving ceremony was held on 28th January 2017 at Vivekananda Sabhagriha. Sri Wangki Lowang, Hon'ble Minister, Agriculture, Trade and Commerce & DoTCL, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh was the chief guest and Sri Mrityunjoy Pramanik, Executive Director, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd, Digboi was the guest of honour. The school magazine 'Narottam' on the theme 'Unique features of Arunachal Pradesh' was released by the Hon'ble Minister during the function. Both the chief guest and guest of honour distributed academic & sports prizes and addressed the gathering. Tiffin was served to all present after the function.
Farewell ceremony of the outgoing class XII and X boys was held at our Vivekananda Sabhagriha on 29th January 2017. The outgoing boys presented melodious songs and speeches.
During the month of January the Mission has distributed 517 Woollen Blankets, 3624 garments (1980 Gents garments & 1644 Ladies garments) and 1489 pairs of Socks among 1773 beneficiaries (Male 1192 & Female 581) . The detail is given below:-
